Boston Calling 2018 Artists To Watch: Maggie Rogers
ICYMI: Acentric Magazine is here to shine light on artists that fall under either category with this daily Artists To Watch series. From now until festival weekend, we’ll be counting down the days letting you in on who our most anticipated performers are this year, from the fairly local Weakened Friends to Grammy-Award-Winning rock-pop stars Paramore.
Artist/Band: Maggie Rogers
FFO: Birdy, Phoebe Bridgers
Playing On: Day 1
Why You Should Watch: With her elegant, bohemian flair and her stylized, bird-like voice, perhaps Maggie Rogers is the Steve Nicks of the young generation. Her music is a swoon-worthy concoction of popstar and indie singer/songwriter, bringing her beautiful melodies to more mainstream airwaves. With two independently released albums and a major-label EP released last year, Now That The Light Is Fading, Maggie Rogers has been making a solid name for herself in the music world–and we can thank Pharrell Williams for throwing her in the spotlight. The artist studied abroad in France before returning home to New York and working heavily on her music career, and her romantically poetic charisma gives way of her experiences. As one of the most inquisitive artists on the line-up this year, we’re ready to be carried away to a land of emotion and art with Maggie Rogers when she plays this Friday.
