Governors Ball Music Festival - Day 1 - New York, NY - 5.31.19
Oh, how time flies! Day 1 of this year’s Governors Ball Music Festival has officially commenced. We may be sunburnt, muddy, and totally exhausted, but we’re excited to keep this thing going. Here’s a rundown of our favorite musical and atmospheric moments from Day 1 and their respective galleries to follow!
It took a lot of thought, but we seemed to narrow down some of our favorite performers of the day. Jeremy Zucker was our favorite afternoon performer of the day. He had the American Eagle stage packed, with dedicated fans lined up in the front row singing all the words and locking eyes every time he stood on the speakers. Jorja Smith later dominated the Honda stage and simply radiated with golden-hour elegance. Of course, Lil Wayne had the entirety of the festival on the feet with his show-stopping performance. As intense as it was, it was merely the pregame to Tyler, the Creator’s theatrical Gov Ball NYC headline performance, ending the night on the highest note possible.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when first walking onto the festival grounds with activations a plenty and food and drinks galore. We made a list and checked it twice, and decided to explore the wonderful world of Gov Ball. We had to pace ourselves, though, but at the end of the day, our favorite food item was the Stuffed Ice Cream with Fruity Pebbles ice cream inside a glazed donut, and our favorite drinks being the Bacardi Miami Vice—located in the Freeloaders Lounge when you get a freeloaders upgrade!
