Miears is an extremely lovely solo Electro-pop artist based in Houston, TX. The self-produced singer just released her debut EP, Who Will Save You?, on February 17th.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the 6 song EP, and I instantly fell in love with her sweet voice. Electro-pop is a little out of my wheelhouse of knowledge, but the first time I heard her I was hypnotized. Her voice makes me want to sing, cry, and dance. It is a great mix of retro Electro-pop with a hint of New Wave. The experimental aspect of this album makes me want to compare her to the Queen of Triphop and Electronic music, Bjork.

There truly is not one bad thing about this EP, but I am someone who can decide whether or not I like something within about twenty seconds. With that being said, I knew after about ten seconds I was enamored by “Echoes”. It is soothing, smooth, like when you are driving in the car late at night and you are in that state between deliriousness and hyper attention. It makes me want to go to sleep, and at the same time, go out and dance forever. My second favorite track was “Directional,” the tune that made me think of my sweet, Bjork. It is experimental and a little off, when I say “off” I mean that in the best way possible. Her voice really makes me feel like I am in a lucid dream, that place in your brain that is in between awareness and fantasy.

I think this may be one of the best debuts I have heard in a long time. Even if you are not an Electro-pop fan, you will still want to check this out if you need some easy listening.

For those of you who have excellent taste, and have decided you were super into the EP, make sure to catch her this year at SXSW and CMJ Music Marathon. If her sets are even half as good as her voice, I am sure you will be pleased.
