Vesperteen signs to KIDinaKORNER, releases new EP

Ohio artist Vesperteen has long been an independent one-man wonder, bringing in an assortment of friends and other artists for recording, producing, and live shows. Now he has announced that he has signed to LA-based label KIDinaKORNER, already home to well-known artists such as Jamie N Commons, X Ambassadors, and Imagine Dragons.

Additionally, he will soon be releasing a new EP Sad Sun on the label. Based on early singles, the classic Vesperteen sound is still there and continuing to mature. “FeelGood” could easily come across as just another infectious summer pop song with fun sound effects and lines like “Just throw up your hands if you wanna feel good.” However, even cursory attention to the bulk of the lyrics reveals a more complex reflection on the stresses of real life and the contradictions of social media. “Love Me When It Hurts” is reminiscent of “Blue” from 2018’s The Hype is Dead, a relationship that has its struggles but survives because both people are determined to love each other through their flaws.

The new EP Sad Sun will be released Friday, August 9. The album release party will be August 10 at The Basement in Columbus, OH. As with previous hometown Vesperteen shows, this one has a theme and everyone is welcome (but not required) to dress for the beach party mood of the event. Other Columbus natives Effee and Telehope will open the show, and the ticket price includes a CD of Sad Sun. Tickets are still available and you still have time to get out your best Hawaiian shirt to join in the beach party fun.
